Sometimes parenting and family life can bring unexpected challenges. It can be difficult to sort out alone. You may be thinking about counseling for yourself or a family member. People of all ages sometimes find that they have issues that require intervention outside their typical support circle. Many people find the support of a professional counselor helpful during these times. We opened this practice with hopes of becoming part of your support system during these times of need.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a member of the American Mental Health Counselors Association. Over the last 20 years, I have enjoyed working with children and families in a variety of settings including community mental health, juvenile detention, crisis units, and schools. I believe in a collaborative counseling relationship in which we work together to address issues that are impacting your family. I view the counseling process as a joint effort between us. My counseling approaches include brief solution focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and play therapy techniques. I offer individual, group, and family counseling for families with children ages 5-18.
I have treated a variety of issues including anxiety, mood disorders, behavioral disorders, grief issues, and adjustment disorders. I also have experience in working with military families on issues such as deployment, reintegration, relocation, and school adjustment. I enjoy working with children and their parents on building better relationships at home and school, and I look forward to meeting with you and your family for your first appointment.
